What We Do
The Emory Ombuds Office is a confidential, safe space where members of the Emory community can discuss issues in an impartial environment. Our role is to promote mutual respect, civility, and ethical conduct, and to alert university leadership to concerns that might justify policy changes.
How We Work
By addressing the needs of individuals with unusual concerns or those who choose to resolve conflicts informally, we are an excellent starting point to talk through your issue and point you in the right direction. You may initiate a formal complaint through another Emory office at any time while working with our office.
We provide assistance that is:
Confidential
We keep no records that contain identifying information and hold keep all communications confidential.
Impartial
Our office is a neutral space and our ombuds remain objective and impartial.
Informal
We listen, provide information, and help to explore options but do not mandate policy changes or formally investigate or adjudicate disputes.
Independent
We report to the Office of the President and are outside of all other reporting structures within Emory.
